The life of a gift store owner

For the most part, my day consists of the usual “mother tasks”

  • getting them off to school in the morning
  • feeding breakfast
  • packing lunches
  • trying to have a healthy dinner ready for them when they come home

Then there are the “keeping a home tasks”

  • Making the beds
  • Laundry
  • Dish washing
  • Organizing
  • Food shopping

Last are the “gift store owner tasks”

  • Ordering new product
  • Meeting with customers
  • Gift wrapping packages
  • Organizing product in my store
  • Answering LOTS of phone calls/text messages/emails/social media comments and questions

This week there was an additional “task” for the gift store owner; going to NY NOW.  For all of you out there that do not PurseN Purse Organizersknow what NY NOW is, I will try and educate you.  NY NOW is a HUGE gift show at the Javits Center in New York City.  Companies and vendors from all around the globe come to display their items and try to entice, sell, and in the end, open new accounts with new potential customers.  Buyers, architects, interior designers, and even end users are also there walking the aisles from areas well outside of the Tri-State area.  (While standing on line for the coat check, I overheard the two people in front of me Matzah Traysaying that they came  from Ecuador!)  The show starts on a Sunday and goes until Wednesday.  I was there for two days to shop for new product for the upcoming Jewish holiday of Passover, graduation gifts, jet-setting gifts, fun-in-the-sun summer gifts, and cool stuff for camp package gifts.  Walking the show is extremely exhausting and draining.  It is a very overwhelming show with hundreds of booths to browse through.  I came home Sunday night with my feet in so much pain, that I needed to “take the day off” on Monday before heading back to the Javits Center on Tuesday.  Tuesday night, I came home feeling exhausted once again, but also very accomplished and excited! I can’t wait to receive my new product and to share all my new findings and inventory with you.  But for now, here are a few teasers and things to look forward to that will be available in the coming weeks…….

I have this in my bedroom for several days and the only time I can smell it is when I put my nose directly to the ceramic petal.

I bought this after reading about the manufacturer and the perfumery. They noted after 24-48hrs your whole room fills up with magnificent scent. Not the case for $100. I do Feng Shui so wanted to at least give this a try. A nice non irritable candle or incense stick will do exactly the same as this device for fraction of the cost.
